“In any moment of decision the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing that you can do is nothing.” — Theodore Roosevelt (via onherway)

“Growing up is never easy. You hold on to things that were. You wonder what’s to come. But that night, I think we knew it was time to let go of what had been, and look ahead of what would be. Other days. New days. Days to come. The thing is, we didn’t have to hate each other for getting older. We just had to forgive ourselves for growing up.” —

“Calling the Goodling/Sampson efforts “like the Voldemort department of human resources,” constitutional law professor Jonathan Turley tells MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann that the report offers “a glimpse at just how unhinged the Bush Justice Department became.” —The Raw Story | Turley: ‘Pathetic’ if Monica Goodling takes fall for Bush officials

STFree :: Main page → stfree.com

Yeah…because someone’s actually going to stop and make a phone call before continuing to do it. Props for addressing a problem, but this does nothing to aleviatet it. You could argue that the STFree card is bringing the topic into conversation, but it’s not like this is still a taboo issue to discuss.

King Ralph

I’ve been listening to Rolling Stone Magazine’s Top 500 songs of all time (2004) and #428 is “Devil with a Blue Dress/Good Golly Miss Molly” by Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels and I thought of that John Goodman movie where he singing it Little Richard style. At first, I thought it was Matinee, but since I think I’m the only person who not only saw but remembers that movie..it wasn’t the correct guess. I was thinking of King Ralph.

I couldn’t find the scene from the movie, but I did find the music video:

“The Godfather has fallen to the #3 spot, after nearly a decade at the top of the Internet Movie Database’s listing of the Top 250 Movies of All Time. As we reported a couple weeks ago, The Dark Knight overtook The Godfather’s throne, but this latest development is really interesting because it might show evidence of a fanboy mob at work. Could it be that Dark Knight fans are intentionally voting down Godfather in hopes of keeping The Dark Knight at the top spot? Why else would The Shawshank Redemption have overtaken The Godfather in a time when neither film is in the public forefront? The percentage of users who gave Godfather a 1 out of 10 (the lowest rating possible) grew from 6.1% to 6.4%, just enough to push Shawshank ahead, while the percentage of participating users who loved the film, giving it a 10 out of 10, remained the same (57%). It’s also worth noting that while any IMDb user can vote and effect a movie’s overall rating, only regular IMDb users can influence the film’s top 250 placement.” —IMDb Watch: Are Dark Knight Fanboys Burying The Godfather? | /Film

“It’s true, a font conference in Buffalo doesn’t exactly sound like a thrilling way to spend a weekend in July, but for those who’ve already joined the Ban Comic Sans campaign, seen the documentary Helvetica and know their Tahoma from their Times New Roman, it was the event of the year.” —A yearn to kern: ‘Fonts are the clothes that words wear’

“President Bush neatly summed up the complex problems in the financial sector last week in terms he could understand. “Wall Street got drunk,” he said. “It got drunk and now it’s got a hangover.” And to pay for the hangover cure, Wall Street is now selling Grandma’s silverware and little Billy’s new bicycle.” —Desperate American banks are selling everything that isn’t nailed down—except the private jets. - By Daniel Gross - Slate Magazine

Red-light cameras in Chicago :: CHICAGO SUN-TIMES :: Chicago Crime → suntimes.com

As much as I miss driving, this kinda makes me glad I don’t drive in the city. And, btw, I don’t agree with the idea of placing these cameras to generate revenue.
